The Australian Opals, often referred to as simply The Opals, are the women's national basketball team of Australia. The Opals represent their country at major tournaments, including the Olympic Games, World Cup, Asia Cup and Oceanian Championship. The Opals played their first international game in 1957, and have won five medals (three silver, two bronze) at the Olympics, as well as a gold medal at the 2006 World Championships.
