Nathan Sobey will remain at the South East Melbourne Phoenix for NBL26.

The South East Melbourne Phoenix have mutually taken the club option along with co-captain Nathan Sobey for NBL26.

Sobey quickly became a household name for the Phoenix in NBL25, co-leading the team to the Finals campaign, and averaging 17.3 points, 4.5 assists and 4.4 rebounds throughout the season.

“I’m excited to head back to the Phoenix and continue to build on what we started last season under Josh King,” Sobey said.

“Playing at home, in front of my family and the Phoenix fans of the Heartland is something I cherish and I’m really excited to get back and chase that championship next season.”

Phoenix General Manager of Basketball Operations, Simon Mitchell added: “Nathan made an indelible mark on the Phoenix immediately and his influence both on and off the court can’t be understated.

“We look forward to having Nathan back to the Heartland as we continue to build the list for what looms as a big season for South East Melbourne.”

Sobey is currently playing in Puerto Rico for the Santeros de Aguada.
