Report: Davis rejects Adelaide offer

Thursday, March 27, 2025
"They have begun to gauge the import point guard market elsewhere."
The Adelaide 36ers' strong desire to re-sign star import, Kendric Davis, appears to have fallen through, according to ESPN reporter Olgun Uluc.
"They (Adelaide) put a pretty substantial offer in front of Kendric Davis," Uluc revealed on The Marketplace.
"I’m told that Kendric Davis rejected that offer ... at least for now."
Davis was arguably the best recruit in the league last season, finishing runner-up in the MVP voting and putting together one of the best statistical seasons of the 40-minute era.
"Now the 36ers haven’t lost complete hope that they might bring Kendric Davis back, but they have begun to gauge the import point guard market elsewhere," Uluc added.
Adelaide has made no secret of its intentions to lock in the superstar guard to a long-term deal, with GM of Basketball Operations Matt Weston reportedly flying to China to meet with Davis and his representatives early this month.
"I think Davis believes that there is, and he’s right in thinking this, that there is a substantial market out there in the international basketball space for him," Uluc said.
"It makes sense," Pete Hooley continued.
"They had to try and pull out all the stops ... you understand the magnitude of what he could accomplish from an individual standpoint."
While it’s not the news 36ers fans would want to hear, Hooley believes it’s not the end of the world if Davis does not return.
"The timing of this wouldn’t be the worst thing for Adelaide," he noted.
"There are some key import point guards who are available this year ... Adelaide has shown interest in Jaylen Adams before and he could potentially be available. Parker Jackson-Cartwright, what is happening with him? I don’t think Derrick Walton Jr is returning to the Phoenix either.
"Adelaide is another team that isn’t afraid to spend some cash."
