NBL1 Wrap (Week 1, 2025)

NBL players were front and centre in the opening weekend of the NBL1, putting up impressive numbers across the board.

Recently departed Melbourne United talent Akech Aliir delivered a dominant double-header, exploding for 31 points and 10 rebounds against Geelong, before following up with 16 points, five rebounds, and three assists against Keilor Thunder.

His strong form continues to make a case for another opportunity in the NBL.

Sydney Kings prospect Klairus Amir was another standout performer, dropping 26 points and grabbing seven rebounds for Central Coast against Hornsby Ku-ring-Gai. His offensive output was crucial in securing a strong result for his side.

Adelaide 36ers’ star Dejan Vasiljevic showcased his elite scoring ability with a 31-point, five-assist effort for Forestville Eagles against Sturt Sabres. He was in full control, proving why he remains one of the most dangerous perimeter threats in Australian basketball.

Todd Blanchfield reminded everyone why he’s still a force to be reckoned with, pouring in 31 points for Illawarra Hawks against Maitland Mustangs. His veteran presence was on display as he led from the front.

Brisbane Bullet Kye Savage had a strong outing, lighting up Hobart for 24 points and four rebounds. He continues to show flashes of his scoring potential.

Tyler Robertson was consistent across both of his games for Casey Cavaliers, dropping 21 points and eight rebounds in back-to-back performances against Dandenong Rangers and Waverley Falcons. His reliability is proving valuable as he continues to develop.

Perth Wildcats free agent Michael Harris also put up a strong all-around game for Frankston Blues, tallying 18 points, 11 rebounds, and five assists against Sandringham Sabres, displaying his versatility.
