Injury won’t slow interest in star big

Thursday, April 3, 2025
"The Hawks have an opportunity to structure his contract to provide financial flexibility over its term."
After going down with an Achilles injury during the Championship Series, free agent center Sam Froling is reportedly "in a healthy place" regarding extension talks with the Hawks, according to ESPN’s Olgun Uluc.
Froling’s free agent status has been a hot topic on the NBL’s Marketplace in recent weeks, with both Melbourne United and the Perth Wildcats rumoured to be interested in the young star.
Froling had an outstanding season for the Hawks, averaging nearly 14 points and seven rebounds per game, and was selected to the All-NBL Second Team.
“Because Froling is expected to be sidelined until at least December — and potentially slightly longer — the Hawks have an opportunity to structure his contract to provide financial flexibility over its term, assuming it’s a multi-year deal,” Uluc reported this morning.
