Travers departs United, NBA bound?

Melbourne United has granted Luke Travers a release from his contract, as the 22-year-old star pursues potential NBA opportunities.

Travers was drafted to the Cleveland Cavaliers in 2022 with the 56th overall pick, but to this stage is yet to live out his NBA dream. It seems that opportunity could be on the horizon.

United released a statement confirming Travers’ departure.

“Melbourne United have granted Luke Travers a release from his contract to pursue NBA opportunities,” the release said.

“We would like to thank Luke for his contributions to the club and the city during his time here.”

Melbourne now has two available roster spots ahead of the NBL25 season.

Travers had his best NBL season to date in his first year at United, averaging an impressive 13.3 points, 7.8 rebounds and 2.3 assists a game in the Finals alone.
