"I love the way Dean's teams play but, more importantly, how they compete."

Incoming Australian Boomers coach Adam Caporn has piled praise on three-time NBL champion Dean Vickerman, who will join him as part of the national team’s coaching setup.

Vickerman will serve as an associate head coach for the Boomers and take the lead role of the Australian team for non-major tournament FIBA windows, as he did in the lead-up to the FIBA World Cup.

"(I am) very excited about having Dean on the staff," Caporn told ESPN.

"(He is) a very highly regarded and experienced coach.

"We've both worked for Andrej Lemanis, and I've seen him in other FIBA campaigns - World University Games and other things - and followed his NBL team closely.

"I love the way Dean's teams play but, more importantly, how they compete, and how much he pours into developing the culture of his teams."

Vickerman will coach Melbourne United until at least the end of the NBL28 season, having claimed NBL Coach of the Year honours on three occasions.

He is looking to win his fourth NBL title as head coach, as United faces the Hawks in the Championship Series.
