Not sure who to pick as a starter for SuperCoach? Check out the best picks below.

With the NBL season only 21 days away, coaches are making their final touches to their rotations and playbooks before they head to the Gold Coast for the NBL Blitz.

Between now and the season starting, SuperCoach players will be making the same decisions as they create their team to be in the running for weekly prizes of up to $1,000.

SuperCoach has a particular emphasis on starters, providing their full point totals to your tally, versus bench players who only provide 50 per cent of their overall points. But unlike any other sport, in SuperCoach NBL, every player matters.

Not sure where to begin with your starting lineup? NewsCorp’s Mick Randall has done us all a favour and done a deep-dive into the rosters for the must-picks for SuperCoach players this season.

Bryce Cotton | Perth Wildcats | $448,500 | Guard

The four-time NBL MVP has been one of the locks for many NBL fantasy players for a number of years, with efficient scoring, high minutes and never missing a game – he’s a no-brainer every season.

While his SuperCoach salary comes at a hefty $448,500, Mick Randall explains he’s always worth having as a starter.

“As one of only two players priced above $400,000, Cotton will eat up a lot of your budget,” he said in the Herald Sun.

“But (he’ll) will give SuperCoaches confidence of big score returns, week in and week out.”

Xavier Cooks | Sydney Kings | $365,500 | Forward

Another no-brainer is Xavier Cooks, coming off his NBA debut with the Washington Wizards, he’ll be hungry to reclaim the throne with his Sydney Kings this season.

He’s the ideal SuperCoach player, getting points, rebounds, assists, steals and blocks every game – he’s always going to be a safe pick each round (especially given his triple-double potential).

Randall added that there will be some extra motivation for Cooks this season, which may skyrocket his SuperCoach potential.

“(He) has the added chip on his shoulder of perhaps proving his coach wrong after being snubbed by Brian Goorjian on the Boomers’ Olympic squad,” he said.

“Has one of the highest scoring ceilings in the game.”

Lachlan Olbrich | Illawarra Hawks | $121,400 | Forward

If you’re looking for a low-cost, high-value player – look no further then Lachlan Olbrich.

The potential for the Illawarra Hawks’ forward is nearly limitless, in back-to-back off-seasons he’s won championships and Finals MVPs, in the 2023 NBL1 Central season with West Adelaide, and the 2024 season with Canterbury in the NZNBL.

He’s put in the work when it matters and coming into NBL25, Olbrich is set to soar with the Hawks as one of the key picks to “surprise” the league.

Potentally filling the starting lineup spot for Gary Clarke, Olbrich is bound to get more minutes, points and rebounds at a minimum.

“(With) Olbrich’s budget price, you have a kid ready to explode for the Hawks - and for SuperCoaches,” Randall said.
