The player: Max Darling (F) NZ $91,300
The moment: The fourth-most traded in player of the top five per cent of rankings missed the round with injury.
Darling is becoming a prime trade target after his 27 SuperCoach points in Round 5, however, he missed the entirety of Round 6 with a groin injury. The 1,836 owners of Darling will be hoping to see his return with more double-headers approaching for the Breakers.
The player: Jaylen Adams (G) SYD $335,000
The moment: Despite returning from injury last week, Jaylen Adams missed the entire round with injury.
Former NBL MVP Adams missed the entirety of Round 6 with a back injury. Coaches holding onto Adams may need to start to look for a replacement after head coach Brian Goorjian implied in his press conference that the star guard may be out for an extended period. His absence was filled by teammate Xavier Cooks, who had the highest SuperCoach score of Round 6 with 95 points.
The player: Will Hickey (G) ILL $241,800
The moment: Trey Kell hurt his back in the second quarter and missed the second game of the round, leaving Hickey to go ballistic against United, with 47 points and followed that up with 31 to have the third highest total for Round 6.
After MVP front-runner Trey Kell III went down in the second quarter of Illawarra’s Thursday night loss to Melbourne, guard Hickey recorded 47 SuperCoach points and backed it up with 31 points against South East Melbourne on Saturday night. Hickey ended the round with his highest SuperCoach round tally of 78 SuperCoach points, the third-highest of Round 6.
The player: Matthew Dellavedova (G) MEL $290,400
The moment: Was experiencing soreness in his knee and ankle, pre-game. He suited up, but did not play against Illawarra. He is 14 per cent owned amongst the top 10 per cent of coaches. He lined up for the second game against, Cairns but only played 15 minutes.
Owners of Melbourne United guard Dellavedova would have been disappointed with his Round 6. After experiencing soreness in his knee and ankle on Thursday night, he suited up, but did not hit the court in Melbourne’s win against Illawarra. He returned to the court for Melbourne’s blow-out win against Cairns, but only recorded a lowly 15 minutes. Delly ended Round 6 with a total of 14 SuperCoach points.
The player: Jack White (F) MEL $359,800
The moment: Had 49 SC points in a historic stat line against Illawarra:
Followed it up with 40 SuperCoach points in only 20 mins against Cairns for the second highest round score
Jack White was the superstar for Melbourne United in their clash against the ladder-leading Illawarra Hawks on Thursday night, White was the first non-centre in 10 years to pull down 19 rebounds in the five-point win, on his way to 49 SuperCoach points. He then followed this up against The Taipans on Sunday, scoring 40 SuperCoach points in only 20 minutes, in a blowout win for United. His 89 SuperCoach points were enough for the second-highest tally of Round 6.
The player: Flynn Cameron (G) MEL $148,000
The moment: With Shea Ili ruled out for the round and Matthew Dellavedova missing the first game, and playing limited minutes in the second, Cameron took full advantage with his first start and a career-high 18 points in both games along, with 64 SC points across the round.
Will you be looking to bringing in Cameron in to bolster your bench?
The player: Montrezl Harrell (F/C) ADL $380,500
The moment: Isaac Humphries missed with calf tightness The game also went to overtime helping Harrell score a season-high 71.
Harrell was the spark for The Adelaide 36ers in their overtime win against the Cairns Taipans. Harrell was forced to step up in the absence of Humphries, who was out with calf tightness. Harrell ended the game with a career-high (NBL or NBA) of 36 points and 16 rebounds, powering him to 71 SuperCoach points to end the round.
The player: Keanu Pinder (F/C) PER $304,500
The moment: Perth's opponent conceded the most offensive rebounds in their history in the 40 minute era. Pinder had 3 of his own but his 34 points, as the offensive centrepiece without Bryce Cotton, which contributed greatly to his 47 SuperCoach points.
After a slow start of the season, Pinder stepped up to help the Perth Wildcats overpower The Sydney Kings in a 87-84 win in The Jungle. Pinder added 34 points and 4 rebounds, helping the Wildcats to a much-needed win.
The player: Xavier Cooks (F) SYD $431,200
The moment: Although Sydney allowed 49 rebounds to Perth for the game, to their 29, somehow Cooks had 11 of his own, good enough for a double-double and a lazy 6 assists, 2 steals and 3 blocks. X was everywhere for his 59 SuperCoach points ... shame no other Kings showed up with him! The steals and blocks continued against New Zealand, as Cooks managed 36 SC, despite having single digit rebound and point numbers. He was the number one scoring player for the round.
The Kings are in desperate need for more players to step up in the absence of Jaylen Adams; who’s next up? Alex Toohey, Cam Oliver ... or?
The player: Tyler Harvey: (G) ILL $309,600
The moment: Tyler Harvey made it his personal mission to make sure the same would not happen when his Illawarra Hawks came up against the South East Melbourne Phoenix on Saturday. Halfway through the second quarter, Harvey was ice cold, going 0-5 to start the game. After hitting a three-pointer to put the Hawks within seven of the Phoenix – he continued to light it up. Harvey ended the game with 22 points (6-8 from three), 4 rebounds and 3 assists. He ended the round on 67 SuperCoach points.
