Blackmores Health and Hoops: Indigenous Basketball Australia

Friday, March 21, 2025
Learn about Indigenous Basketball Australia’s Blackmores Health and Hoops clinic in Logan.
The Blackmores Health & Hoops program aims to give access to good health through the sport of basketball to young adults in our communities. Supported by past and present NBL stars and volunteers from our team at Blackmores, we are creating healthy change and positive impact.
On June 12, 2024, 23 Indigenous Year 6 students from the Murri School joined a special clinic during the Indigenous All Stars exhibition game in Logan. With Olympians Chris Goulding and Adam Gibson leading the session, participants learned basketball basics while gaining inspiration from their idols.
The clinic celebrated culture and sport with storytelling, yarning by the fire, and community connection.
“The atmosphere is amazing…it’s great to be here and influence these kids in a positive way,” Melbourne United captain and Blackmores clinics ambassador, Chris Goulding said.
Participants received basketballs and met All Star players, making it an unforgettable experience. Blackmores’ support reflects its dedication to removing barriers and providing opportunities for Indigenous youth to shine.
About Indigenous Basketball Australia
Australian Indigenous Basketball has merged with Indigenous Basketball Australia. IBA has designed a new and exciting basketball program for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander young people which is designed to inspire and motivate our young people to be proud of their culture and identity. The IBA will support these participants in realising their dreams, whether it’s on or off the basketball court including fulfilling their dreams of higher education or seeking opportunities to advance in a range of careers, studying to become doctors and nurses or becoming community leaders and role models of the future.
