Sixers ready for Finals intensity

Sixers ready for Finals intensity

Thursday, February 13, 2025

"We won the series, but it doesn’t mean anything, it can go either way."

Adelaide 36ers star Dejan Vasiljevic says the club’s regular season success against the Sydney Kings means nothing ahead of tonight’s do-or-die Play-In Qualifier.

The Kings and 36ers clash tonight, with the winner advancing to Sunday’s Play-In Game against the South East Melbourne Phoenix, and the loser being eliminated.

Sydney defeated Adelaide in Round 1 at HoopsFest, but the Sixers have taken down the Kings three times since, including twice at Qudos Bank Arena. However, Vasiljevic knows those results go out the window come Finals time.

“Nothing, it’s 0-0 now, yes, we won the series, but it doesn’t mean anything, it can go either way,” Vasiljevic told the club’s website

“They will come with a bigger intensity; they will come out firing on their home court.

“It’s the playoffs, everyone is going to have my heart, more fight and more energy.”

Vasiljevic is hoping the star-studded 36ers can make their first post-season appearance since 2018 a special one.

“We were able to find form in January and kind of click and make our push,” Vasiljevic said.

“But we were disappointing in our last three games, but now we are in the playoffs for the first time in seven years and hopefully we can achieve something.

“It’s 0-0 now, it doesn’t matter if you finished first or finished sixth, anyone can win it.”

Tip-off between Sydney and Adelaide is 7:30pm AEDT tonight, live on ESPN.
