Perth Young Gun Declares for NBA Draft

Emerging Perth Wildcats youngster David Okwera has declared for the upcoming NBA Draft, his new club has confirmed.

Okwera joined the Wildcats this month after two seasons at Melbourne United, and at just 20 years old has a bright future ahead.

He increased his game time from seven minutes a game in NBL22, to 14 in NBL23, boosting his averages to 4.2 points and 3.3 rebounds a game. 

Wildcats coach John Rillie spoke highly of Okwera upon his arrival at the Wildcats.

“At the age of 20, David already has experience at the NBL level,” Rillie said. 

“With his best days still way ahead of him, he’s an exciting addition to the roster and he has a work ethic that will allow his game to grow.

“With David returning home to Perth, the Red Army can expect to see a versatile forward who has the ability to impact the game at both ends.”
