The Australian Basketball Players Association has announced the nominees for its Players' Player of the Year awards.

The Australian Basketball Players Association (ABPA) has announced the nominees for its four major player awards – the NBL and WNBL Players’ Player Awards, and the Opals and Boomers Players’ Player Awards.

Mitch Creek, Bryce Cotton and Xavier Cooks have been nominated for the NBL Players’ Player Award in what is a repeat of the NBL23 MVP race.

Cooks went on to be named the league MVP with 120 votes and has since signed with NBA side Washington. Cotton was named runner-up with 96 votes, while Creek finished third with 80 votes.

NBL23 stars Mitch McCarron and Sam Froling have been nominated for the Boomers Players’ Player Award, alongside returned legend Matthew Dellavedova and former Perth Wildcat Nick Kay.

Dellavedova was on Thursday announced as one of two players cut from the final Boomers squad for the upcoming FIBA World Cup, alongside Will McDowell-White, while Froling was also named in the initial 18-player squad.

Cayla George, Kelsey Griffin, Lauren Jackson and Steph Talbot have been nominated as WNBL Players’ Player, while Talbot, Sami Whitcomb and Tess Madgen have been nominated as the Opals Players’ Player.

The awards will be hosted on Sunday, August 13.
