Sydney championship hero Angus Glover has committed his immediate future to the Kings

Sydney championship hero Angus Glover has committed his immediate future to the Kings, signing a two-year deal with the side ahead of the free agency period commencing next week.

Glover – who has won two titles with the Kings – has emerged as one of the premier local sharpshooters in the competition, after coming back from three separate knee reconstructions early in his career.

He shot to the forefront of the Australian basketball scene following his courageous, game-defining performance in Game 5 of the NBL23 Championship Series.

"It [re-signing] was a pretty easy decision to make really," Glover said. "To win back-to-back championships and to see the vision the club has going forward, why wouldn’t I want to be a part of it.

"I loved running it back with the Kings this season … I think one of the most enjoyable parts of being on this team was the fact that we all celebrated everyone else’s success throughout the year.

"It’s easy to let things like that slip when we had the year we had being up the top of the ladder all season but we just enjoyed coming to training every day and putting in the work.

The guard has already set himself a pair of clear goals for NBL24.

"Apart from winning another title, I honestly think winning the NBL's most improved award is an achievable goal for me."

Kings CEO Chris Pongrass says he’s proud to have one of the side’s local leaders commit as the Kings chase a three-peat.

"He was crucial in helping us go back-to-back and getting him to re-sign was a priority for the club, as we know how bright his future is," Pongrass said.

"Angus is one of the leaders of this group - we're so proud to call him one of our own for another two seasons."

Glover will suit up for the Eltham Wildcats in NBL1 South this off-season, and has joined Jaylin Galloway, Shaun Bruce, DJ Vasiljevic and Jordi Hunter on Sydney’s roster for next season.

NBL Free Agency kicks off on March 30.
