Hools is Hearing ... Adelaide circles star signing

With Zylan Cheatham reportedly signing a deal overseas, the 36ers are ever closer to finalising their last import signing.

As previously discussed on The Marketplace, the Adelaide 36ers were zeroing in on their final import piece and it was seemingly down to two.

Hools is Hearing ... with Zylan Cheatham reportedly signing a deal in Japan, the 36ers are inching ever closer to finalising a return to the league for NBL22 championship player Jarell Martin.

It would be a massive boost to the 36ers' starting unit and it’s been evident the direction they are looking in with finding a piece that has previous NBL experience.

Martin certainly fits that billing, but his resume is much more impressive than that, having helped the Sydney Kings win a title, in a season where he put up 16 points and 8 rebounds a game.

What Martin has that a lot of other traditional big men do not, is his ability to put the ball on the floor and make plays like a guard, whilst still utilising his strength as a big man.

The 36ers have needed someone to come in who can hold down the power forward spot in the starting lineup, but also be able to play significant minutes at the center position.

Combining all of that with new signing Kendric Davis, big man Isaac Humphires and two elite shooters in DJ Vasiljevic and Lat Mayen, and all of a sudden this 36ers starting lineup looks dangerous.

While there is some concern over Martin’s current health, as he rehabs from injury, it’s a relatively low risk, high reward proposition for Adelaide.

The potential to bring back an All-NBL calibre big man, who has prior experience and understands the league, should have 36ers fans excited for the upcoming season.
