Glover opens up on Sydney departure

New South East Melbourne signing Angus Glover is looking forward to a "fresh start".

Angus Glover is set for a fresh start in NBL25. The former Sydney and Illawarra sharpshooter has taken his talents to the South East Melbourne Phoenix and is ready to move forward after an indifferent NBL24.

Glover won two titles during his stint at the Kings under Chase Buford, but now former head coach Mahmoud Abdelfattah failed to utilise the 25-year-old in a similar fashion to his predecessor.

Although Glover still appeared in 27 games across the campaign, he failed to hit the floor in the Kings’ Play-In Qualifier defeat to the New Zealand Breakers, in what turned out to be the final time he suited up for his former club.

He told CODE Sports he was never given a reason for his benching.

“I never really fully got an explanation, but just ‘Moud didn’t see me in his rotation’,” Glover said.

“There’s no bad blood with the Kings organisation, what they did for me when I hurt myself in the COVID bubble, I’ll be forever grateful for that,” he said.

“I was a bit restricted last year, there was no denying that, so [I'm] just looking forward to playing with a lot of freedom in a fresh start.”
