Every Player Rated: Game 4

Friday, March 21, 2025
'The Hickey Hustle' was all the rage after Will Hickey's dominant fourth quarter performance in Game 4.
Derek Rucker has rated all the key players from Wednesday's Game 4, with a new Hawks starter dominating on the night.
Illawarra tied the series at 2-2, with the chance to seal the Championship Series on their home court in Wollongong on Sunday.
Game 5 between Illawarra and Melbourne tips off on Sunday at 2.30pm AEDT, live on ESPN, 10 and 10 Play.
The starters
Sam Froling - Was off to an influential start in the first quarter, before injuring his Achilles. Watch the post-game vision of his teammates gathering around him - says it all! 8/10
Darius Days - Continued to show progress in Game 4. His 11 rebounds were massive, but his three ball in transition in the late stages of the fourth quarter was the biggest shot of his season. In game adjustment after Froling’s injury was exceptional. 8.5/10
Tyler Harvey - Made enough plays and critical buckets to have an influence on the outcome. Didn’t shoot it well, but is playing with commitment and purpose. Defensive execution was excellent. The late three from the wing was the dagger! 7.7/10
Wani Swaka Lo Buluk - Dropped off a bit in Game 4. Is applying lots of pressure and physical play on the defensive end. Offensively was not a factor. 7/10
Will Hickey - Dominated the fourth quarter. Scored the basketball well and at key moments. Ignited the Hawks offense and kept it organised. Add in all the ‘Hickey Hustle’ benefits and the result was the best game of his career. 9.4/10
Off the bench
Dan Grida - Wasn’t overly effective in his minutes, but his defensive effort in the first half may have contributed to United’s guards being fatigued in the second half. Displayed great determination and grit. 7.4/10
Hyunjung Lee - Working hard on both ends. Didn’t break free from United’s defence, but hustled and provided energy. 7/10
Lachlan Olbrich - Outstanding in Game 4. Was great in ball screen situations, made great decisions on the catch and scored the ball efficiently. His ability to pass well hurt United’s defensive scheme. 8.7/10
Todd Blanchfield - Made another big shot and it was enough. Six points and four rebounds in 11 minutes. On-point with his productivity. 7.6/10
Mason Peatling - Is doing all the little things properly. Seven points, five rebounds in 13 minutes. Significant role player impact. 7.5/10
The starters
Chris Goulding - Shot it well from deep, but poorly from inside the three. Solid offensive contribution under extreme defensive attention. Defensive effort was good. -19 for the game. 6.9/10
Jack White – Below average game and never asserted his Game 3 form onto Game 4. Only six points and missed all of his threes (3) and free throws (2). 4.3/10
Matthew Dellavedova - Outstanding first half, but began to show signs of fatigue down the stretch. Continued consistency in his floor game but had four turnovers. A solid performance. 7.5/10
Marcus Lee - Rough game for the star of Game 1. Fatigue evident and his foul troubles are beginning to be a problem. Didn’t make a bucket! 5/10
Ian Clark - Continued with the aggressive mindset, but didn’t have the efficiency of previous post-season home games. Competed hard at both ends. 0/5 from three. 6.6/10
Off the bench
Rob Loe - Slight improvement over earlier games in the series. Must do a better job in his matchups on Lachlan Olbrich and Darius Days. 5.5/10
Kyle Bowen - Non-factor offensively, but played with the proper spirit. 5.2/10
Tanner Krebs - Had a positive effect on the scoreboard in his 13 minutes at +10, but was unable to capitalise on his scoring and playmaking opportunities in his cameos. 6.2/10
Flynn Cameron - Played 10 minutes for four points. Stayed authentically aggressive. 7/10
Tom Koppens - Limited minutes were not filled with much productivity, but exhibits enthusiasm and a good motor. N/A
