Cotton sent to hospital with rib injury

Four-time MVP Bryce Cotton has been taken to hospital due to a rib injury suffered in his Perth Wildcats' 89-85 loss to the New Zealand Breakers.

Cotton suffered the injury in the opening moments of the game before collapsing to the court in pain after just over two minutes.

“They took him to the hospital. We are waiting to see,” Perth coach John Rillie said.

Bryce Cotton has exited the game following this play.

“It’s something in his torso area so we’ll see. He certainly wasn’t carrying anything going into tonight’s game.

“In the moment when an injury like that happens, you always hope. The player’s health is always at the front of my mind. It did take us a minute (to recover) because he is such an integral part of our team.”
