Bogut: Canada "beatable" for Boomers

Monday, July 29, 2024
Andrew Bogut believes the Aussies can triumph against the NBA-stacked Canada team.
After a 92-80 win over Spain, attention has quickly turned to the Boomers’ next battle against the NBA-stacked Canada on Tuesday night.
Despite boasting the likes of NBA MVP candidate Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, RJ Barrett, and NBA champion Jamal Murray, Andrew Bogut believes the Aussies can triumph.
“I think they (Canada) play in ebbs and flows, I think they can front run a little bit and they can get in their own head a little bit. I think our physicality is what can probably win this game,” Bogut said on The Gold Standard podcast.
Bogut praised Dyson Daniels for his defensive display against Spain, and he is set to now face the task of trying to slow down Gilgeous-Alexander.
“The most important player is going to be Dyson Daniels because he's going to get SGA,” Bogut said.
“I think if he slows down SGA, they do like to have SGA bring the ball up, so just wearing him down, turning him in the back court, trying to get his legs for later on in the game. I hope Dyson Daniels starts on him.”
Australia and Canada meet at 9:30pm AEST on Tuesday night, with boast teams having won their opening matches.
