The New Zealand Breakers are potentially just three games away from completing one of the greatest turnarounds in NBL history.

With their victory over Tasmania on Sunday, they could become just the second team in the history of the competition to win the championship the season after finishing bottom of the ladder.

The other side to have completed this remarkable achievement was the South Dragons in 2008-2009, who also won the title off the back of a five-win season the campaign prior.

"We're very happy and proud," Breakers head coach Mody Maor said following his side's qualification for the Championship Series.

"We'll stay happy and proud today and we'll get to work tomorrow.

"There's nothing in the world than I'm looking forward to more. They're the defending champs, the best team in the league, and this is what Finals is supposed to be.

"It's good to play against the best, and we're looking forward to it a lot."
