Saturday, February 22, 2025
"We are currently speaking with Montrezl’s management about next season."
The Adelaide 36ers are interesting in bringing Montrezl Harrell back for a second season, despite an apparent farewell to fans from the star big man.
Harrell was must-watch across NBL25, averaging 20.7 points and 9.2 rebounds a game, entertaining crowds with his celebrations and presence on and off the court.
“We are currently speaking with Montrezl’s management about next season and so far discussions are positive,” Adelaide’s GM of Basketball Matt Weston told NBL Media on Saturday.
Harrell hinted via social media his time in the NBL may be over, but the 36ers have kept the door open for the former NBA Sixth Man of the Year.
“Want to take this time to just say thank you to the @adelaide36ers for having me,” Harrell said via his Instagram account.
“Enjoyed my time there an (sic), made some great memories along the way. Hope you guys enjoyed me as a player and I wish you guys nothing but success in the future. Best of luck next year and years to come.”
Answering questions from fans, Harrell said: “Yes I would play in the NBL again if chances happened, where that may be I’m not sure of tho (sic).”
Harrell doubled down via Twitter.
“Thank you for the time in Australia ... was a pleasure and dope experience overseas,” he said.
“I appreciate everything from the fans! Really hope you all enjoyed me for my time there! Who knows I may be back in Australia, new location!”
Harrell was named in the All-NBL Second Team after making a huge impact in the league.
