Matthew Dellavedova has returned to some team activities as he continues to recover from concussion.

Melbourne head coach Dean Vickerman says star guard Matthew Dellavedova is “progressing well” in his recovery from concussion, and has started to reintegrate himself back into the side.

Dellavedova missed both of Melbourne’s Round 5 wins following the injury, which occurred when Brisbane wing Sam McDaniel accidentally and awkwardly landed on the former NBA champion, during United’s Round 3 clash with the Bullets.

Melbourne defeated both Illawarra and New Zealand in Round 4, where New Zealand-born guard Shea Ili in particular stood up in Dellavedova’s absence.

“He got into the team meeting and watched video today, got into an individual workout so it’s really strong progress,” Vickerman said.

“I think when you’ve taken a number of days off because of the injury it’s about the load you get back into your body, so when you return there aren’t other injuries as well.

“[He’s] really progressing well.”

No timeline has been placed on Dellavedova’s return to full action.

Melbourne will face Tasmania and Illawarra in Round 5.
