“A bunch of boos”. That’s what Sydney Kings sharpshooter DJ Vasiljevic is expecting when he takes to the floor against the Tasmania JackJumpers at MyState Bank Arena on Friday night.
Vasiljevic famously broke the hearts of the Tasmania faithful in the Grand Final series last season after hitting a clutch three-pointer in game two. The bucket and resulting celebration saw him earn a raft of abuse from a small pocket of opposition supporters.

Friday’s clash will be Vasiljevic’s first time returning to the scene of the biggest moment of his professional career, and he’s preparing himself for a frosty reception.
“I wouldn’t be surprised if as soon as I touch the ball there are a bunch of boos that come my way,” Vasiljevic told Newscorp.
“But I have nothing but respect for Tasmania, their island and what their CEO and others have done to bring them back and perform at a very high level.
“It’s just part of the game. [MyState Bank Arena] gets loud, and it’s one of my favourite places to play – just because the fans get so involved … I’m looking forward to it.”
The JackJumpers released a story on their website on Friday, asking fans to be respectful of the opposition.
“We really urge our fans to be really passionate but respectful in the way they support the club,” Chief Commercial and Customer Officer, Christine Finnegan said.
“We don’t condone booing or heckling of anyone from the Kings, they’re a club with a long, successful history and incredible talent as they have again proven through their success so far this season.
“Tasmanians are humble, hardworking people and we’re proud to represent those values every single time we step on the court or engage with the community. We want our fans to uphold those values and respect the opposition as much as they respect our players.”
