Scheduled selections

Blokes

It has been some four weeks since we had six teams on a double in the same round. All clubs will play two games this week, except Illawarra, Sydney, Tasmania and SEM. The first three of those teams have back-to-back singles, meaning the schedule will be heavily dictating our trades over the next couple of weeks.

Brisbane has the best run from here with eight straight double-game rounds. New Zealand has seven doubles over the next eight weeks, while Adelaide has seven over the next nine.

If you are looking to trade in the short term, the Bullets and the Breakers have back-to-back doubles from this round with that schedule, whilst Melbourne are the third and only other team with back-to-back doubles from this week.

You will need a Wildcats exit strategy. They have one remaining double this week, before four straight single game rounds.

Trade targets

Bryce Cotton (GRD) PER $379,100
Last game out saw the finest of all SuperCoach performances for Cotton. His 77 SuperCoach points surpassed his previous best of 66, with his playmaking (7 assists and only1 turnover) sure to be a forgotten highlight of this historic performance. His 77 puts him fourth all-time in the 40-minute era in single game SuperCoach scoring. Bryce now holds six of the top 100 SuperCoach scores, surpassing Cedrick Jackson’s five top 100 performances. Despite going up $55.4k last round, Cotton remains an excellent chance to have another significant price increase this round. This is the last of Bryce’s double-game rounds for some time, but the options are plentiful about what we can do with Bryce. We can keep him as a bench option long-term considering how cheap we were able to buy him. We can also use him as a stepping stone to Kendric Davis. If you haven’t cottoned on yet, owning Bryce is awesome. Don’t worry about the price, it could be your last chance to buy Bryce!

Parker Jackon-Cartwright (GRD) NZ $417,900
Much like the 7 assists will be a footnote to the main article in Bryce’s performance, Parker was also making some of his own history at the other end of the floor. PJC’s 61 SuperCoach point performance is the equal 46th highest score in the modern 40-minute era. It is quite amazing that these two performances happened in the same matchup; and it was a perfect way to finish the weekend for SuperCoaches. PJC remains a must own player, with some short-term price certainty and an awesome schedule to come.

Sam Mennenga (FWD/CTR) NZ $218,900
We need to monitor the knee injury situation of both Tacko Fall and Dane Pineau, however, both appear to be in serious doubt in the short term. With Jonah Bolden potentially still sidelined or needing to be ramped up, the Breakers will be heavily reliant on Sam Mennenga. Having seen an even split of minutes with Gillespie earlier in the season, Sam should see all the action he can handle over the next few rounds. Off the back of his best performance of the season we think now is a great time to select Sam.

Isaac Humphries (CTR) ADL $254,200
While possibly a short-term option until the return of Harrell, if you can get over that, Humphries could be the option for you. This round should see a continuance of his form from last game where he scored 42 SuperCoach points, therefore, Ice should get you some cold hard cash for your side as well. If you have the trades available or coverage for your Perth Wildcats next week, we would advocate bringing in Humphries this round and looking to see how Tyrell Harrison performs. Humphries to Tyrell next week will likely net you some cash compared to if you were to bring in Harrison (who missed last week with illness) this week.

Benny’s breakvens

Here are some of the breakevens of interest heading into Round 11:

Darius Days: 13 (1 game)
Rocco Zikarsky: 15 (2 games)

Isaac Humphries: 27 (2 games)

Boydie’s questions and answers

Question: What is Kendric Davis’s breakeven?
Answer: This has been a hot topic of conversation as he has a Breakeven (BE) of 57 on the system. However, this assumes that he will play two games. We know that he will only play one game due to suspension this round. So, what is his actual BE? (We have tried to step this out below)

The game looks for a three-game rolling average/total when calculating a BE. Given that the listed BE is 57 and his last round score was 62, we know that the implied total for KD to make his BE is 119 across 3 games (62+57).

We know that we are only going to have one game from Round 11 count towards the three games needed; so, we now need to get his score prior to the 62 points he had last game, which was 48.

Knowing that we need to get to 119 and we already have scores of 62 and 48 (110 total), we only need 9 points from KD this round to make his BE.

To summarise, his approximate BE for this round is 9 from one game played.

Question: I need to downgrade in order to fund Kendric Davis and Montrezl Harrell, what are my best options?
Answer: There are a few different options depending on price point. Looking at the very cheap options, the only one with any ongoing role seems to be Emmett Naar (G) BRI $60,300. Naar should play 5-10 minutes for the Bullets and is an alternative to paying for a non-playing player under $60k. A couple of other options have emerged at a slightly higher price point being Carlin Davison (FWD/GRD) NZ $75,400 and Mason Peatling (FWD) ILL $79,800. Davison has seen opportunity through the injury curse of the Breakers (which has only worsened) and Peatling moved into the starting role last round and significantly increased his minutes played. We consider both of these options to be bench stashes and not genuine cash cows. However, if they can score some points whilst freeing up funds for some premium players on court, they are the best options.

Finally, we just read the news of Dejan Vasiljevic being out for three to six weeks (reported by Michael Randall) with a hamstring injury. We saw Keanu Rasmussen (G) ADL $67,500 get an excellent opportunity last round in the absence of Davis and score 25 SuperCoach points. He could see continued opportunity in the absence of DJ. Can you trust another Keanu?

Question: Who do I start this week out of Mennenga, Almansa, Prather, Doolittle or Lopez?
Answer: Noting that you can start 3 of these guys due to dual positioning, our order will be as follows: 1. Doolittle 2. Mennenga 3. Prather 4. Lopez 5. Almansa. However, if Pinder is confirmed to miss again (which we are not expecting) we think Almansa would jump ahead of Lopez.
