The Brisbane Bullets will call in some much needed reinforcement for Saturday’s game against the South East Melbourne Phoenix, will Casey Prather set to make his club debut.

Prather signed with the club last week as a replacement for DJ Mitchell, who is out with a season-ending hip injury, boasting an incredible NBL CV.

A three-time NBL champion and one-time All-NBL First Team member, Prather has averaged 17.1 points and 4.8 rebounds across 88 appearances in the league.

He played two seasons with the Perth Wildcats and two with Melbourne United between 2015-2020.

“Don't expect 40 minutes … he is there to provide support and the thing we are missing. It is evident he is still the Casey Prather that everyone remembers. We just need to get him in game shape,” Bullets coach Justin Schueller said.

“He is going to help us, the edge he has, the winning experience he has, it is kind of the gap we have got right now. He is the shot in the arm we need on Saturday night.”

Prather’s first appearance can’t come soon enough. The Bullets are languishing in ninth position and in danger of falling out of the Finals race.

“I’m so excited to be joining the team. I’ve played in Australia for the majority of my career, so it feels like a second home to me,” the star signing said last week.

“I’ve missed the fans, the culture and the atmosphere, so being able to come back and play with such a good group is amazing.

“I was very fortunate to have already played under coach Schueller, so for me it was a no-brainer.

“Not only is he an excellent coach and leader, but also just a great guy off the court.

“For me, it’s all about winning. I’ve won three championships in Australia, and I plan on getting with the guys to do it again.”
