Overseas calls for Cooks?

Wednesday, October 25, 2023
"They’re going to look into Asia, China, Japan, those leagues."
Reigning NBL MVP Xavier Cooks could be set for a stint in Asia as he looks for a new home after being cut from the Washington Wizards.
Speaking on NBL Now, 1990 NBL MVP Derek Rucker mentioned Asia as a potential landing spot for Cooks, after speaking to his agent Daniel Moldovan.
“I’ve just been on the phone to Daniel Moldovan, and it looks like the NBL is not in the equation this season,” Rucker said.
“I thought Euroleague might be the next good look for him but apparently, they’re going to look into Asia, China, Japan, those leagues. They bring a lot of cash and Xav is a high-level player, he deserves all the coin he can get out of his talent.”
On NBL Overtime, ESPN news breaker Olgun Uluc reported Cooks’ management will exhaust NBA options before considering an NBL return.
Cooks averaged 15.1 points, 7.8 rebounds and 3.7 assists across 34 regular season and Finals games for Sydney last season.
