Okwera to Work With Top NBA Prospect

Perth Wildcats forward and David Okwera is giving himself the best chance of being recruited in the upcoming NBA draft, and is training with the draft’s top prospect as he “tests the water”.

Okwera will spend time working out in the same group as highly touted French prospect Victor Wembanyama who, by most accounts, is a near certainty to be selected with the number one pick in the draft.

Among that group is also former Breakers Next Star Rayan Rupert.

“It will be great for him (Okwera) to be in the same gym as those guys,” Okwera’s agent Solomon Dech told News Corp.

“There will be days when they train together, and days when he trains an hour before.

“Any given day could be his lucky day when he is seen by the right person at the right time.”

Okwera joined the Wildcats after a successful NBL23 campaign with Melbourne United before declaring for the NBA Draft last week.
