NBL statement on Doolittle concussion

Tuesday, February 6, 2024

The NBL has released the following statement regarding the Perth Wildcats' handling of Kristian Doolittle’s concussion on January 13.

The Perth Wildcats have received a two-year suspended penalty of $5,000 for breaching the NBL’s Minimum Medical Standards for their handling of Kristian Doolittle’s concussion in the January 13 game v South East Melbourne Phoenix.

The NBL’s Minimum Medical Standards state once a player shows a suspected sign of concussion, they need to be taken out of the game for a medical assessment. Player welfare is paramount to the standards and policy, and issues related to concussion need to be treated with extreme care and caution.

The NBL acknowledges Perth’s cooperation and transparency throughout the review and welcomes new protocols that will be implemented by the club moving forward.
