JackJumpers Not Distracted by High Stakes

Sunday, February 19, 2023
Tasmania JackJumpers assistant coach Jacob Chance says the team will not be distracted by the high stakes of tomorrow’s do-or-die Game 3 against the New Zealand Breakers.
Tasmania JackJumpers assistant coach Jacob Chance says the team will not be distracted by the high stakes of tomorrow’s do-or-die Game 3 against the New Zealand Breakers.
The JackJumpers and Breakers will battle for a spot in the Championship Series, and history is on Tasmania’s side.
Scott Roth’s men faced the same situation last season and were able to upset Melbourne United on the road in Game 3 to advance to the Championship Series.
The JackJumpers will need to recreate that magic, but Chance says it is vital the team doesn’t become overly focused by what’s on the line.

“We are aware of the things that are at stake, and it is important we don’t get distracted by that,” Chance said.
“We got a job to do and that is to put the game on our terms early and if we can do that, we will put ourselves in a good position to have a great result.
“I think the guys are getting better as the series goes on and usually the series will reward whoever does that.
“It is important we get off to a good start, we are fully aware, but we won’t be deterred by that (a spot in the Championship Series). It is going to be a big 40 minutes.”

Chance emphasised the need for Tasmania to “create our own atmosphere” playing on the road and credits a good start and keeping the game on their terms as the keys to doing that.
He also confirmed everyone recovered well from Game 2 and are set to go to battle tomorrow.
Tip-off between the Breakers and JackJumpers is 4pm AEDT tomorrow at Spark Arena live and free on ESPN via Kayo Freebies.
