Cairns Taipans star Keanu Pinder is set to miss his team's sold out clash against the Adelaide 36ers on Saturday night.

Cairns Taipans star Keanu Pinder is set to miss his team's sold out clash against the Adelaide 36ers on Saturday night.

On Friday, the club's website reported:
"Scans have revealed a lateral ligament strain on his (Pinder's) left ankle. He will be assessed again over the weekend to determine if he can return to the Taipans lineup on Monday, for Illawarra."

Taipans coach Adam Forde has been vocal about Melbourne United's "questionable tactics" in last Friday's clash.

“It’s one thing to send a double team, it’s another thing to have guards sliding in at all different angles to try and draw, whether it’s a charge, a block, or a no call, regardless of what the officials call it, the result is Keanu is picking himself up off the floor. That’s jeopardising his ankles, that’s jeopardising his health,” Forde bluntly stated on Thursday.

Cairns has lost its last two games, while Adelaide is coming off four straight wins in what looms as a vital clash for both teams, sitting fourth and sixth in the standings.

The Taipans and 36ers face off at 8pm AEDT on Saturday, with the game live on ESPN via Kayo and Foxtel.
