Illawarra faces an uphill battle against the Cairns Taipans on Monday night, with two of its stars sidelined.

Michael Frazier (hamstring tightness) failed to pass a fitness ahead of the Hawks' home fixture, while Peyton Siva (shoulder) will also be missing from the squad.

The Hawks sit bottom of the table with just two wins from 17 games, but battled bravely on New Year's Eve in a ten-point loss against Perth.

In-form guard Tyler Harvey will be key to Illawarra's chances, having scored 28 points against the Wildcats.

Big man Sam Froling has also enjoyed a good patch of form, with 19 points and 13 rebounds in the Hawks' most recent game.

Cairns has its own injury issues with Keanu Pinder out for the next two games due to an ankle injury, but recorded a famous victory against Adelaide on Saturday night, coming back from an 18-point deficit in the final term to win.

The teams face off on Monday at 7.30pm AEDT at WIN Entertainment Centre, with the game live on ESPN via Kayo and Foxtel.
