Injury Update: Hawk's Season Over

A shoulder injury will sideline Illawarra guard Peyton Siva for the remainder of the season, adding further salt into the wounds for the struggling Hawks.

Siva arrived at the club midway through October as a replacement for import Justin Robinson, who himself had a season-ending injury.

He averaged 9.3 points, 6.3 assists and 1.6 steals, across 11 games.

Now, the Hawks have lost yet another key, experienced player.

It's been somewhat a tumultous season for Jacob Jackomas' team, sitting last in the standings with just two wins in NBL23.

But GM of Basketball Mat Campbell said Illawarra would now look to provide further opportunities to its young, developing players.

"We are disappointed for Peyton as he has been a welcome addition to the club since arriving in October," Campbell told the club's website.

"Peyton joined us when the squad was undermanned and in a tough stretch on the floor, but he was the perfect mix of performance and leadership required at the time.

"Peyton came to us with the reputation of being a pro's pro, and he has left a big impression on our young guards and the squad more broadly.

"We will play out the remainder of the NBL23 season with the current squad, with the likes of Davo Hickey, Lachie Dent, and Alex Mudronja looking to continue their strong performances at the guard position."

There is some good news for the Hawks, with Michael Frazier set to return from hamstring tightness for the away clash against Adelaide on Friday night.
