Hools is Hearing: Eyes on Prather

Wednesday, January 15, 2025
“The Brisbane Bullets are obviously interested in keeping him… but yesterday’s price isn’t today’s price.”
It’s been one of the best stories of the season, as Casey Prather continues to play at an All-NBL level, just 18 months after returning from two significant knee injuries.
With the way he’s been playing recently, Prather is beginning to attract attention for the future if he were to become a free agent at the end of the season.
“There are some teams locally who are keeping an eye on what’s going to happen with him and are interested in seeing what happens next,” Pete Hooley said on NBL Overtime.

Prather is third in the league in scoring at almost 21 points, shooting the three at 42 per cent, to go along with six rebounds per game.
“As our great friend Corey Williams would say, ‘yesterday’s price is not today’s price,” Hooley said.
“He’s on a low contract currently because he had two significant injuries he was recovering from; he had to bet on himself. He did that and is now playing at a level where he is an All-NBL First Teamer in my mind and has to be rewarded for that.”
Since the FIBA Break, Prather is averaging almost 27 points across the 12 games played, including shooting almost 50 per cent from three.
“He will be a hot commodity if he becomes a free agent and Brisbane don’t re-sign him before the end of the year.”
