Gak signing first move for champions

Thursday, April 18, 2024
Gorjok Gak has been signed by the Tasmania JackJumpers on a two-year deal with a club option.
The Tasmania JackJumpers have started re-tooling for their NBL24 title defence, signing former Brisbane and South East Melbourne center Gorjok Gak on a two-year deal – the second of which contains a club option.
The move to Tasmania will see Gak represent his third NBL club in three seasons in the competition, following his rookie NBL23 campaign with the Bullets and subsequent move to the Phoenix.
The 28-year-old endured an injury-hit NBL24 campaign with South East Melbourne and played just 17 games across the season, in which he averaged 5.4 points and 4.9 rebounds per game.
“I’m excited to join the JackJumpers and get down to Tasmania. I’ve heard great things about the culture and obviously that has created an environment where players can thrive, and that’s fostered success super quickly,” Gak said.
“Really looking forward to getting to know the guys, coaches and front office. All the interactions I’ve had so far, everyone has been incredibly supportive and professional.”
Gak grew up in Sydney, before moving to the US College system where he attended Florida State University, finishing as the leader in blocks in the Western Athletic Conference.
“Gorjok is a really athletic big man who brings a lot of size and length to our group. He really embraces that next man up mentality, which he showed that during his season with Phoenix last year,” JackJumpers coach Scott Roth said.
“A great rebounder, shot blocker and will provide that extra rim protection for us”.
