Melbourne United star Jack White has put himself firmly in the eye of NBA scouts, after a strong NBA Summer League performance on Monday morning, Australian time.

Despite playing just 20 minutes in the Denver Nuggets’ win over Cleveland, White scored eight points, pulled down 15 rebounds and capped off an impressive stat-line with two assists, three blocks and a steal.

His rebound haul included six on the offensive end.

“I pride myself on being a good rebounder and defence and the things you try to control with your effort and energy – fortunately the ball just bounced my way more often than not, it felt like,” White told NBL Analyst Liam Santamaria after the game.

“If it’s there (the rebound opportunity) I’m going to try and get it. That’s how I play in Australia and that’s how I’m going to play here.”

White was one of the stars in the Boomers’ FIFA World Cup Qualifiers in the last fortnight, continuing an outstanding individual year so far.

“He (White) looks great. He’s still finding his feet a little bit, but all the shots he’s taking and the ways in which he affects the games, it’s all good signs,” former teammate and Phoenix Sun Jock Landale said.

“If a team’s looking for a glue guy who can kind of do the little things and lead a team … I’m just watching him out there even in an environment where he’s only been in for four days, and he’s leading guys, he’s pulling guys into huddles and that’s a rare trait to have.

“That on top of the kid can jump through the roof, he’s athletic, he can defend … he just does all those things so well.”

The Nuggets next hit the court on Wednesday against the Los Angeles Clippers.
