Perth Wildcats star Tai Webster will not take the court in Friday night’s game against the Illawarra Hawks with a hamstring injury.

Webster suffered the ailment in last weekend’s loss to the South East Melbourne Phoenix, with coach John Rillie revealing the timeline for his return is somewhat unknown.

“Right now it’s day to day. Hamstring injuries are a little fickle so it’s day to day. He’s certainly moving a lot better today than he was on Monday,” Rillie said via The West Australian.

“He had some scans and there’s some kind of hamstring disruption. It’ll take one week or two weeks…I’m not sure. As soon as he can move at a pace to be effective in a game, he’ll be back on the court.”

Webster has played five games for Perth this season, meaning he needs to participate in at least two more matches to qualify for the finals.

The Wildcats have four games remaining, but Rillie squashed any suggestion Webster may not qualify for the postseason.

“Tai will qualify for finals. His injury is a day to day injury,” he said.

Webster is averaging 9.4 points per game. Perth host Illawarra on Friday night at 9:30pm AEDT.
