Hickey oozing confidence in Hawks

"I look at the team and our talent, and I don't see a lot of guys in other squads going as deep as us."

The Illawarra Hawks enter the Playoffs as the number one seed and Davo Hickey holds strong confidence the club can do “something special” this post-season.

Illawarra has already made history, finishing on top of the ladder for the first time in franchise history, but Hickey’s sights are now firmly set on delivering the Hawks a championship.

"There's been a belief from the start that we could achieve something special this season,” Hickey said via the Illawarra Mercury.

"It's not about being arrogant or cocky. Honestly, I'm just being realistic. I look at the team and our talent, and I don't see a lot of guys in other squads going as deep as us.

"From the start of the year, I honestly had that belief and it hasn't changed, it hasn't wavered since.”

Illawarra hosts the South East Melbourne Phoenix in game one of the best-of-three Playoff series on Friday night at 7:30pm AEDT live on ESPN.
