Is the Swaka Lo Buluk family on the verge of becoming the NBL's next great basketball family?

There are already a number of family dynasties littered throughout the history of the NBL. The Frolings, Gazes, Boldens, Giddeys ... the list goes on.

In a few years’ time though, there could be another added to the list - the Swaka Lo Buluks.

Western Australian-born Kuron Swaka Lo Buluk – younger brother of Illawarra’s Wani – is currently showcasing his immense talent at the Under-16 National Championships.

Wani is no stranger to junior basketball success himself. He was a member of Australia’s gold medal winning side at the 2017 FIBA Asia U16 Championships, and won gold at the U18 National Championships, alongside Luke Travers.

At the age of 22, he already boasts three NBL titles – two with Perth and one with Sydney – but his 16-year-old brother already stands just as tall as he does.

“That guy’s massive,” Wani told The Daily Telegraph about his brother.

“He’s a very humble kid. He’s picked up so many different skills not only from me, but just being around basketball and being around the game.

“He’s smooth, got good handles, he can shoot and he’s pretty skilled. He could be one of the best players to come out of that tournament and I think he knows it, but I just hope he has fun.”

Kuron said he was keen to play in the NBL and follow in the footsteps of his brother.
