Phoenix focus on Davis

Can the Phoenix stop Kendric Davis in Sunday's Play-In Game?
The South East Melbourne Phoenix plan to make things as tough as possible for star Adelaide 36er Kendric Davis in Sunday’s Play-In Game.
Davis has had a sensational season, finishing second in MVP voting and leading the 36ers over the Kings on Thursday night with 24 points, six assists and five rebounds.
With a spot in the Playoffs against the Illawarra Hawks on the line in Sunday’s do-or-die clash, Phoenix guard Nathan Sobey is well aware of the importance of slowing down Davis.
“I think it's just about making stuff as tough as possible,” Sobey said of defending Davis.
“I think the group did a good job with Bryce (Cotton) over the course of (Tuesday's) game, he found ways but good players find ways, so it's just about making things as tough as possible over the course of 40 minutes.”
Sobey added coach Josh King wants South East Melbourne to play the game on its terms.
“Get back to our style of play on both ends of the floor, get after it on defense and then push the ball on offense and play with pace,” Sobey said.
Tip-off between the Phoenix and Sixers is 2:30pm AEDT on Sunday, live on ESPN and Channel 10.
