The Kings' Guard: Sydney to sign import

Tuesday, December 31, 2024
"We will see an import guard of some sort, a ball-carrier, within the week."
The Sydney Kings are on the verge of bringing in a third import to enhance their roster, ESPN’s Olgun Uluc is reporting.
Speaking on NBL Overtime on Monday, Uluc said the Kings would sign a point-guard “within the week”, following Brian Goorjian’s push for support for star man Jaylen Adams.
“This is Brian Goorjian doing a really good in these press conferences of pressuring the Kings’ front office and management team,” Uluc said.
“It’s ‘I need another ball carrier, I need someone else out here’, so we’re not going to see a replacement for the Sydney Kings as far as an import goes ... we’re going to see an addition.
“We will see an import guard of some sort, a ball-carrier, within the week.”
Adams was brilliant offensively against Adelaide, with 41 points, but had to do a lot of the hard work himself, finishing with only two assists.
“(It will be) someone that can carry the ball, Jaylen Adams can play off the ball and maybe this guy can maximise and optimise Cam Oliver,” Uluc said of the incoming signing.
“This will be a low-risk, reasonable reward person ... think of Ian Hummer to Tasmania. Just someone who’s going to come in and ideally maximise the rest of this roster.”
The Kings currently sit in fourth place on the NBL standings, following a 15-point loss to Adelaide on Monday night.
