Tasmania's Blast From the Past

The Tasmania JackJumpers have become the first club to release their jersey for the Hungry Jack's NBL Heritage Round.

Honouring Tasmania's basketball history, the JackJumpers have released a jersey inspired by the Hobart Tassie Devils, who played in the NBL from 1983-1996 (Hobart Devils 1983-1986, 1996 - Hobart Tassie Devils 1987-1995).

"We're really proud to release this jersey and I think it will evoke a lot of emotion in many people who were heavily invested in the Devils and in basketball in Tasmania," JackJumpers General Manager of Basketball Jorrick Chivers told The Mercury.

"Tasmanians were starved of NBL basketball for 26 years, but we know the fans are just as passionate and we're really proud to have captured that passion and support throughout the first two years of the JackJumpers.

"It's really special to be able to honour the last team that played in the league."

Tasmania will wear its heritage jersey for matches against Adelaide at MyState Bank Arena on January 12 and the South East Melbourne Phoenix on January 18 at the Silverdome, allowing fans in both Hobart and Launceston to pay tribute to basketball in the state.

Launceston Casino City (1980-1982) and the Devonport Warriors (1983-1984), the state's other previous NBL teams, will also be celebrated.

The Hungry Jack's NBL Heritage Round will take place from January 18-22, in Round 16.
