The Cairns Taipans have won $50,000!

The Cairns Taipans are $50,000 richer after winning the inaugural Summer Shootout.

Cairns’ 111-80 victory over state rivals the Brisbane Bullets on January 17 proved to be the winning score of the Summer Shootout, with no other team surpassing the 111 points the Taipans posted.

The Summer Shootout saw all 10 teams nominate an away game in January where they believed they could score the most points, with the club who scored the most taking home $50,000.

Rob Edwards poured in 35 points in the win against the Bullets, while Taran Armstrong (19 points) and Tanner Groves (17 points) were both key contributors on the offensive end.

One lucky fan will also win $100,000, with the individuals who selected Cairns to win the Summer Shootout with 111 points in the running. The winner will be revealed on February 10 during the Andrew Gaze MVP Awards Night broadcast.

In exciting news for fans, the prizes keep on coming! To celebrate the finale of the Summer Shootout, the NBL is giving away either a signed Scottie Pippen or Carmelo Anthony jersey.
