Snakes strike to sign Kyrin Galloway

Tuesday, April 30, 2024
Kyrin Galloway has signed a two-year deal with the Cairns Taipans.
Kyrin Galloway has joined Adam Forde’s young and emerging roster at the Cairns Taipans, signing a two-year deal with the Far North Queensland side.
The 24-year-old has previously played for the New Zealand Breakers and Adelaide 36ers in the NBL, and has made 97 appearances in the competition over four seasons.
He averaged a career-high 5.7 points per game with the 36ers in NBL24, in a season which included a breakout 23-point, seven rebound masterclass in his side’s Round 16 demolition of the South East Melbourne Phoenix.
Cairns head coach Adam Forde believes Galloway's form at the end of NBL24 helped attract the Taipans to him.
“To close out last season, 'KG' showed in a small sample size of what he is capable of," Forde said.
“In their last nine-game stretch, Adelaide went 6-3. KG averaged a little over 8 points and 4.5 rebounds in 25 minutes of game time, but I was most impressed by his shot-blocking. He registered a block or more in all but one of those games.
“We regularly struggled with rebounding and rim protection last season, especially in pick and roll coverage. So, part of the recruitment of KG is to help fix that.
“On the other end of the floor, he is both a stretch big and lob threat which creates scoring opportunities for himself as well as creating space for his teammates."
Galloway joins Taran Armstrong, AK Gak, Sam Waardenburg and Jackson Makoi on the 2024-25 Taipans roster.
