Sell-out streak sparks upgrade talk

Sunday, January 5, 2025
"We’re talking to the government about expanding the venue."
Larry Kestelman has revealed talks with the Tasmanian state government on expanding the capacity MyState Bank Area are ongoing, as the JackJumpers continue to notch sell-outs.
Tasmania has sold out 50 straight games at MyState Bank Arena, not to mention its eight sellouts at the Silverdome, and Kestelman is hopeful the government will continue to invest in the defending NBL champions.
“We’re talking to the government about expanding the venue but it’s the government’s call,” Kestelman told Newscorp.
“The government deserves a pat on the back for having the vision to invest, because it’s proved to be an amazing investment and I hope with AFL coming, they continue to invest in basketball.”
Kestelman added he is hopeful something can be announced on the sale of the JackJumpers by the end of the season.
Tasmania hosts the South East Melbourne Phoenix at MyState Bank Arena on Sunday at 4:30pm AEDT live on ESPN, 10 Bold and 10 Play.
