Rucker’s question for 36ers

Rucker’s question for 36ers

Friday, January 10, 2025

"Can the Sixers keep it under control, especially when things start getting a bit crazy out there on the floor?"

The Adelaide 36ers look to extend their two-game winning streak tonight when they head down to Tasmania to take on the reigning champions.

After an impressive Round 15, 1990 NBL MVP Derek Rucker believes the 36ers' season remains wide open as the squad sits just outside the top six.

“I think Andrew Bogut said he wouldn’t be surprised if they won the championship, and I tend to agree,” Rucker said on NBL Now.

“However, they have that type of volatility that I wouldn’t be surprised if they finish in eighth place, also.”

After back-to-back 20-point losses on their home floor, the 36ers bounced back in emphatic fashion with convincing wins over Sydney and Melbourne.

With all the talent on their roster, Rucker believes it’s their star guard who holds the key to their success.

“I like Kendric Davis and the way he plays,” he said.

“I think he’s getting better each game as a floor general. As his management of the game increases, so does my trust in the 36ers.”

There are no easy games left for the 36ers as they welcome Illawarra into the Adelaide Entertainment Centre on Monday, with every win crucial for their Finals aspirations.

While their best is certainly good enough to beat anyone, Rucker is still waiting to see how this team responds to adversity before he makes the call on their potential.

“Can the Sixers keep it under control, especially when things start getting a bit crazy out there on the floor,” he questioned.

Adelaide faces Tasmania tonight at 7:30pm AEDT in a Summer Shootout game, live on ESPN.
