Rucker: 'Brisbane's best win in eight years'

"It was against the best team in the league, one of the most storied franchises we currently have going around."

The Brisbane Bullets shocked the NBL world on Sunday when they went into Melbourne and snatched a win over the ladder leaders on their home floor.

“That was their best win since re-entering the competition (in 2016),” Derek Rucker said on Moments That Mattered.

The Bullets scored 122 points in the game, shooting it at 64 per cent from the floor and 50 per cent from the three. It was the second-highest total they’ve put up in the 40-minute era.

“It was a masterpiece what they did to Melbourne,” Rucker said.

“It was against the best team in the league, one of the most storied franchises we currently have going around, a team that is most likely going to be in the Championship Series.”

It was one of the more impressive offensive performances from any team all season and it snaps a 12-game losing streak for Brisbane against United.

“Four guys over 25 points in that game, now that is amazing,” Rucker said,

“(Keandre) Cook and (Casey) Prather go for 27 and (Tyrell) Harrison and (James) Batemon go for 25.”

The Bullets are looking to build on their back-to-back wins from Round 11 and continue to climb towards a Play-In Tournament position.

Rucker believes that if they are to make it to the top six, then Sunday’s game is how they must go about it.

“I think this is the blueprint for success ... those imports must accept responsibility for producing to this type of level and efficiency.”

Brisbane hosts the South East Melbourne Phoenix this Thursday night, live on ESPN from 7.30pm AEDT.
