Roth: Deng's "season is over"

Tasmania JackJumpers' Scott Roth has confirmed Majok Deng's season is likely over.

Tasmania JackJumpers' head coach Scott Roth, has confirmed he thinks power forward Majok Deng's "season is over" after injuring his ankle in training.

Deng reportedly sprained his ankle in a team training session earlier this week, according to Roth. That came off the back of mixed results in Round 16 for the JackJumpers, including a clutch tip-in win over Adelaide and a blow-out loss against Perth.

As if the loss to New Zealand on Thursday night wasn’t hard enough for the JackJumpers, they now face the proposition of yet another important piece being sidelined indefinitely.

“I don’t want to speak completely out of line but I think his season’s over," Roth said in the post-game press conference.

“It’s probably two to three weeks, a mild sprain ankle, it is a sprained ankle. I would probably say his season’s done.”

Although the club haven't officially confirmed the impact and timeline of the injury, with Will Magnay and Sean Macdonald already out, it would be a huge blow to Tasmania’s finals hope.
