Report: Wildcats offer Cotton historic deal

Thursday, December 12, 2024
Bryce Cotton is a free agent at season's end and the Wildcats are determined to keep him in Perth.
The Perth Wildcats have tabled an offer to superstar Bryce Cotton that would make him the highest paid player in NBL history, according to The West Australian.
Cotton is a free agent at season's end and has averaged 49.3 points over the past three games, and the Wildcats are determined to keep him in Perth.
“It is obvious to us that Bryce has been and continues to be the best player in the NBL and as a result of that, he should be compensated accordingly. We believe our offer to Bryce reflects that reality,” club owner Mark Arena said.
Cotton has become the first man since Andrew Gaze in 1991 to score 40+ points in three consecutive games, with a 59-point explosion against New Zealand in that stretch standing as the equal sixth-highest individual scoring performance in NBL history.
This past off-season, Sydney Kings' star Xavier Cooks signed a deal that ESPN reported as the biggest in NBL history at the time.
