Report: Harrell in “advanced talks” to stay with 36ers

Montrezl Harrell's future with the Adelaide 36ers is trending in a positive direction.

Adelaide 36ers star Montrezl Harrell is in “advanced talks” to remain with the team for the rest of the season, according to ESPN.

Harrell is currently signed as an injury replacement for Jarell Martin, but ESPN’s Olgun Uluc has reported discussions between the club and Harrell’s agent on a full-time deal have been ongoing for weeks and “there's now a real expectation that will come to fruition”.

Harrell has made an immediate impact in five games, averaging 15.7 points and 10.3 rebounds, while bringing an infectious energy to the court.

After last Friday’s win over the Sydney Kings, Harrell opened the door to a permanent stay in the NBL this season.

“I definitely can,” Harrell said when asked if he could see him himself playing in the league beyond his current short-term contract.

“These fans and this organisation has been nothing but giving love to me and supporting me ever since I got off that plane after the 24-hour flight.

“It’s been amazing and I’m just looking to keep doing everything that I can for this organisation, and they are giving it right back.”
