Phoenix import out for Throwdown

Friday, September 29, 2023

"We expect Gary’s recovery time to be minimal, and we will monitor his progress daily."

South East Melbourne Phoenix guard Gary Browne will miss the Throwdown on Thursday night due to hip soreness.

Browne pulled up sore during training this week, but could be available as soon as Sunday's clash against the Perth Wildcats.

“Gary unfortunately aggravated his hip during a practice session in the lead up to the season-opener,” Phoenix Head of High Performance Eric Hollingsworth said.

“We expect Gary’s recovery time to be minimal, and we will monitor his progress daily to ensure he is fully fit for our upcoming games.”

Development player Kody Stattmann will come into the squad in Browne's absence.

The Phoenix are already missing big man Alan Williams with a knee injury, while Gorjok Gak is out with an ankle issue.

Tyler Cook and Anzac Rissetto will come into the team to take on Melbourne United.

In good news, Matt Kenyon is set to make his club debut, after recovering from a back injury.
